Center for Democracy and Participation

The NYLI Center for Democracy and Participation is committed to fostering a more engaged and informed citizenry by promoting democratic governance and civic participation at the grassroots level. We work to ensure that our programs are inclusive and reflective of the diverse needs of Filipino communities. Our primary focus areas include civic education, capacity-building for local leaders, and strengthening democratic institutions through participatory governance. Through these efforts, we aim to cultivate a culture of active citizenship and ensure that every voice contributes meaningfully to the democratic process.

Goals

Anchored on the overarching goal to strengthen democratic engagement by providing resources, education, and support to individuals and communities, CDP seeks to:

  1. Promote understanding and awareness of democratic processes and civic responsibilities.
  2. Create and support opportunities for meaningful participation in democratic and community activities.
  3. Facilitate diverse and equitable discussions that include all voices in the democratic process.
