Istoryahi’s Sugilanon tackles Food Security and the Impacts of the Changing Climate on Agriculture 1

Istoryahi’s Sugilanon online discussion kicked off this Sunday’s episode with the topic on Food Security and the impacts of the Changing Climate on Agriculture and Food Production Systems, carried through by Mr. Patrick Sta. Romana, Licensed Agriculturist, Science Research Specialist II of Region VI Department of Agriculture – May 23, 2021.

Given the changing landscape in agriculture and food production systems due to the climate crisis, Istoryahi aims to present these realities to Negrosanons and equip them with adaptive strategies in combatting and mitigating these impacts. It also scopes the existing mechanisms of the Department of Agriculture in light of these situations.

“Ang climate change indi lang man parti sa pag init sang tiyempo ukon pag-taas sang baybay”, Coleen Awit stated, as she hosts tonight’s Sugilanon episode on Facebook Live. She further added that it also affects our food production systems and our local communities.

This episode was one of the pioneering discussions streamlining the importance of food security and local food production which is vulnerable with the rising climate crisis and the vulnerability of Negrosanon Communities at stake with these realities.

Istoryahi is a consortium project of Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc., and Youth Empowering Youth Initiative merging Sugilanon and KapEdukar into one. It airs every Sunday at 7 PM, hosted by Negrosanon Leaders to discuss the pressing issues of communities in Negros/John Rey V. Reyes, NYLI Inc.
