Bacolod City — The Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc. (NYLI) has been granted an Equivalency Determination (ED) certification by NGOsource, a globally recognized service that assists international grantmakers in supporting nonprofit organizations around the world.
The certification recognizes NYLI as equivalent to a U.S. public charity for grantmaking purposes and is valid until December 31, 2027.
The recognition places NYLI among organizations that have undergone an independent review of their governance, operations, and accountability systems, making it easier for international foundations and donors to support the organization’s programs and initiatives.
According to NYLI Executive Director Kevin Gaitan, the certification strengthens the organization’s ability to build partnerships and bring more opportunities to children, young people, and communities across Negros.
Founded by young leaders from Negros, NYLI has grown into a province-wide organization implementing programs on youth leadership, mental health, climate resilience, education, civic participation, humanitarian response, and community development.
Over the years, the organization has worked with local government units, schools, community groups, development partners, and youth organizations to provide meaningful opportunities for children and young people while addressing pressing social and environmental challenges.
NYLI said the certification is expected to help strengthen its resource mobilization efforts and support the expansion of programs that benefit communities throughout Negros and neighboring areas.
The certification comes as NYLI continues to expand its work in youth development, mental health and psychosocial support, climate action, renewable energy access, food security, and disaster resilience across the region.
