NYLI, CI Philippines Partner to Strengthen Community Support Systems through Donation Program

The Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc. (NYLI) and CI-Philippines, Inc. (CIPI) have formalized a partnership aimed at strengthening support systems for underserved communities through the implementation of a Product Donation Program, following a series of on-ground engagements and capacity-building activities in Negros Occidental.

The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on February 23, 2026, in Quezon City, marking a shared commitment to deliver essential goods and services to communities in a more efficient, accountable, and sustainable manner. Prior to the signing, NYLI and CIPI conducted a multi-day engagement in Negros Occidental to ensure that systems and partnerships are in place for effective implementation.

The activities included coordination meetings and courtesy visits with local stakeholders, including the Local Government Unit of Talisay and the Provincial Health Office, to align efforts with local development priorities. Central to the engagement was a two-day coaching session on Good Distribution Practices (GDP), which equipped partners with the necessary standards for the proper handling, storage, and distribution of donated commodities.

The training emphasized quality assurance, safety, and accountability, ensuring that resources reach intended beneficiaries with dignity and care. The engagement also involved field-based learning activities, including focus group discussions with hospital personnel and spot checks of hospital warehouses and pharmacies. These activities provided insights into existing systems and helped identify areas for improvement in the distribution process.

A technical debriefing and post-assessment followed, reinforcing learning and readiness among partners. To support long-term implementation, sessions on partner benchmarking and reporting systems were also conducted, strengthening mechanisms for monitoring, documentation, and transparency.

Under the agreement, NYLI will support the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of the Product Donation Program, while CIPI will provide donated commodities and technical guidance. The initiative focuses on supporting communities in areas such as education, health and well-being, and social innovation, particularly for children, young people, and vulnerable sectors.

NYLI Executive Director Kevin Gaitan said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that assistance is delivered responsibly and sustainably. He emphasized that beyond providing resources, the collaboration aims to build systems that empower communities and strengthen their capacity to manage and sustain support over time.

The agreement also ensures that all donated goods are distributed free of charge and in accordance with established standards, including Good Distribution Practices, reinforcing a people-centered and accountable approach to service delivery.

As the partnership moves forward, both organizations aim to expand their reach and deepen collaboration with local stakeholders, ensuring that support translates into meaningful and lasting impact for communities.
